Mandatory Ethics Training Course

All Classes other than Life Licensees, Restricted Auto Licensees and Adjuster Representative Licensees are required to complete a Council approved ethics course as described by the General Insurance Council Bylaws.

If you have successfully completed one of the course(s) identified in the "Approved Ethics Course(s)" document below, please provide Council with documentation.

Mandatory Ethics Training Course

(1)  Effective January 1, 2010 all resident Restricted Auto and All Classes other than Life licensees must within the cycles set out below complete one or more General Council approved ethics courses totaling at least three hours in duration:

         (a) Resident licensees who are licensed on or after January 1, 2010 must:

(i) complete the ethics training within three years of becoming licensed; and

(ii) complete the ethics training within each subsequent 5 year cycle.

         (b)  Resident licensees who hold a licence issued prior to January 1, 2010 must:

(i) complete the ethics training by their annual reporting date in 2013; and

(ii) complete the ethics training within each subsequent 5 year cycle.

         (c)  The 5 year cycle referred to in (a) (ii) and (b) (ii) begin when the previous cycle ended.

         (d)  Credit hours earned for an ethics course can be applied towards a licensee's continuing education requirements.

         (e)  For the purpose of this section each individual ethics course must be at least one hour in duration.
