Errors and Omissions (E&O)

Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance is a form of professional liability coverage that protects insurance agents and adjusters against claims arising from errors, omissions, or negligent acts in the course of their professional duties. For example, if a licensee fails to secure appropriate coverage for a client and the client suffers a financial loss, E&O insurance may help cover legal fees, settlements, or damages awarded in a lawsuit.

Maintaining active Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance is a legal requirement under The Insurance Act, The Insurance Regulations, and the applicable Bylaws for obtaining and maintaining a licence as an insurance agent or adjuster in Saskatchewan. This coverage provides financial protection for licensees and helps ensure clients have recourse if a professional error or omission occurs.

E&O insurance is limited in scope. It typically does not cover intentional misconduct, criminal acts, or claims involving bodily injury or property damage. Licensees are responsible for understanding the terms and limitations of their policy, including coverage limits and reporting obligations.

This requirement supports public confidence in the insurance industry by promoting accountability and reinforcing the professionalism of licence holders.
