Who we are

The Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan (ICS) operate under the authority delegated by the Superintendent of Insurance to license and regulate insurance agents, brokers, adjusters, and agencies within Saskatchewan.

There are three distinct Insurance Councils in Saskatchewan:

1. General Insurance Council (GICS): Regulates General Insurance Adjusters, Property & Casualty Agents, Restricted Travel Agents, Crop Hail Agents/Adjusters, Restricted Insurance Agents, Managing General Agents (MGAs), and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).
   
   
2. Life Insurance Council (LICS): Regulates Life and/or Accident and Sickness Agents, including agencies, MGAs, and TPAs.
   
   
3. Insurance Council of Saskatchewan ( ICS Board): Serves as the overarching board.

The Councils have the authority to license individuals and businesses, impose conditions and/or restrictions on licensees, and conduct compliance audits and investigations into the conduct of insurance licensees in response to complaints. ICS is responsible for determining whether there has been a breach of any provisions of The Insurance Act, The Insurance Regulations, or the Council Bylaws.

ICS Mandate

The Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan ("Councils") are committed to a fair, ethical and professional industry which ensures that consumers receive responsible, trustworthy advice and service regarding insurance and related financial matters. The Councils have the authority to conduct investigations into the conduct of insurance brokers, agents and adjusters in response to a complaint and to come to a determination as to whether there has been a breach of any of the provisions of The Saskatchewan Insurance Act, its Regulations or the Insurance Council Bylaws.
